On the road again

We said goodbye to our friends in Albuqueque and embarked on our travel back to Iowa. It was very ccold going through the mountain pass and the clouds caused low visibility for a while but once we got on the eastern slope it cleared up. We had decided to take a more leisurely route back this time, and while it took us 3 times as long, it was a more relaxed and comfortable ride. We found Route 66 and rode it until we ran into a road closed sign and I have to say that it was an adventure. It was also rough as a cob and it was apparent that New Mexico is not devoting many resources to keeping it up. We hit Tucumcari and switched over to Hwy 54 which we followed all the way to Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri.
